Humanities and Languages

Excelling in expression

During his time at our school, your son will participate in a rich Humanities and Language program, which flows from the Junior School right through to the Senior School.

Humanities

Our Humanities program sees all students study history and geography from Junior School up until Year 10. After this time they can choose from a wide-range of humanities and commerce subjects in Years 11 and 12, to feed their interests and support their future goals.

Our compelling humanities program also encompasses public speaking and debating, writers’ clubs and competitions and participation in National Poetry Day.

Our Aboriginal Studies program includes excursions, study and exploration of indigenous art, music, cuisine, films and history.

Languages

Given today’s global environment, your son will start his languages journey in our Junior School, where students learn Mandarin Chinese from Pre-Preparatory up until Year 6. From Year 7, students are introduced to four languages on rotation: Mandarin Chinese, Bahasa Indonesian, French and Latin.

Your son will continue with two of these languages into Year 8 and one into Year 10. Many students choose to study at least one language in their senior years.
