There is a longstanding tradition of music-making at the school and it plays an integral part in our cultural life. We encourage all students to learn a musical instrument and over 300 boys do so assisted by 35 specialist members of the Music Staff. Performance opportunities are available to all these boys, as well as those who learn out of school, in the two symphony orchestras, three string orchestras, two concert bands, two stage bands, various chamber ensembles, and the three main school choirs which alone total 300 boys. Major school concerts, student recitals and church services are a feature of the music calendar.
In the classroom music is a core subject up to Year 7 and elective subject from Year 9 and the school’s first class teaching and performing facilities greatly enhance.

We have a strong focus on drama and productions occur at all levels in the school. In the Junior School opportunities are presented through the Drama Club and recent productions such as Circus Norge (2006), Honk (2007) and Decades of Change (2008).
Recent Middle School productions have included Medieval Night (2006), Lord of the Flies (2007) and Revolting Rhymes (2008) while the Senior School dramatic and musical productions in recent years have included Hair! (2006), Last of the Knucklemen (2007) and Les Miserables (2008).
The strength of drama is evidenced by the extensive facilities we have for the performing arts. Drama provides many opportunities for boys to be involved as members of cast, lighting, sound, set design and construction and stage management. Our productions are often made in conjunction with local girls’ schools and our boys also participate in their productions.
