Mr Michael Gerard Bauer is an internationally acclaimed author whose writing has received several awards both in Australia and overseas. In 2004 his first YA novel The Running Man was published to great acclaim. It subsequently won the 2005 Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book of the Year for Older Readers and was short-listed for the NSW, Victorian and South Australian State Premiers’ Literary awards. His second novel, a ‘laugh out loud’ comedy entitled Don’t Call Me Ishmael! also received acclaim. Since then a number of his books have won, or been short-listed, for awards both in Australia and overseas.

Like many who have mastered their art, Mr Bauer was very open and honest about both his successes and failures; recognising that without making some mistakes, he never would have arrived at where his is today.

A big thank you to all who came along, and thanks to Ms Janine Pietrilla to who provided the hot breakfast and also to the hugely supportive School Library team.
