Welcome Mr Dennis Nowak
Announcing Our New Head of Senior School
Following an extensive search, we are delighted to announce that Mr Dennis Nowak will be joining us as our new Head of Senior School, commencing in January 2027.
Dennis is currently Deputy Principal - Teaching and Learning at Haileybury Rendall School in Darwin, a role he has held for the past four years. Prior to this, Dennis spent two years as Haileybury Rendall School’s Director of Boarding. Throughout his career, he has held a range of leadership positions across student wellbeing, teaching and learning, and curriculum development, including at Westbourne Grammar, where he spent twelve years and during which he served as Deputy Head of Senior School, Director of the School’s flagship Year 9 Program, and as Head of House.
Dennis is passionate about creating school cultures in which students and staff are continually challenged to grow and improve. He places great importance on relationships, high expectations and providing young people with both the support and opportunities they need to thrive.
Dennis completed his Bachelor of Arts in Canada, majoring in History and Sociology and in 2022 went on to achieve his Master of Leadership, with a particular interest in different models of leadership and their application within schools.
As a father of two sons, Dennis and his entire family share a passion for ice hockey, and outside of school, he coaches ice hockey, enjoys reading, particularly about the American and Russian revolutions, and spends time with his family.
Dennis will have the advantage of working closely with Ms Whelan in her role as Deputy Principal, as well as with Mr Troy Stanley, Head of Middle School and Mr Rob Gow, Head of Junior School. We look forward to welcoming Dennis and his family in person early in the New Year.
