Dr Hicks took his Doctorate in History from the University of Melbourne in 1988 and then spent twelve months in Cambridge, England, with his family where he studied teaching.
On returning to Australia he taught at Haileybury College for two years, before moving to Camberwell Grammar School, where he was Head of History between 1991 and 1996. After four years as Director of Studies at St Kevin’s College, Dr Hicks was appointed Deputy Principal and Head of Wheelers’ Hill Campus at Caulfield Grammar School, in 2001. He commenced as Headmaster of Camberwell Grammar School in 2005.
